Deja Vu

There are conflicting opinions about the intense experiences many
humans seem to have, known as Deja Vu,

Everything stops for a second and you suddenly realize you have been
somewhere before, or known someone or have seen something before.
There is no background for this and the place, person or situation is
entirely new. What is the explanation for this sudden feeling? The
feeling usually includes all senses. We see, smell and hear the
familiar place, person, incident as a memory without explanation.
These feelings can last for just a second or continue on for several
minutes. There is no question they are remembered long after the
episode is over in minute detail.

Discussions regarding of the cause of Deja Vu happenings continue.
Scientists attribute Deja Vu to neurological abnormalities, although
to date there is no proof to support these theories. Other
possibilities include reincarnation, multiple universes, time string
or time ribbon approaches advanced by those involved with physics and
psychological theories based on manifestations of wish fulfillment and
epilepsy. Those interested in magic or spiritual explanations believe
that our minds are capable of premonitions, astral travel and energies
and memories from our genetics. That Deja Vu is a gift from the
unknown abilties within our brains.

Authors, historians and reporters from the distant past have mentioned
Deja Vu throughout history: "We have all had some experience of a
feeling, that comes over us occasionally, of what we are saying and
doing having been said and done before, in a remote time - of our
having been surrounded, dim ages ago, by the same faces, objects, and
circumstances - of our knowing perfectly what will be said next, as if
we suddenly remember it! "(Dickens in David Copperfield - chapter 39
(1)) The word itself is a greek one and this culture had oracles and
ancient teachers to promote their beliefs in the spiritual abilities
of human beings.

Perhaps because most of these occurances are not menacing or
threatening, we can all be curious and look upon them as somewhat
mysterious and entertaining to relate. We put them in the same
category as the
after-life. A continual search for the truth in our being. Where
have we been and where are we going. Deja Vu seems to be tied to
these questions.
